shpiel

Yiddish

also: spiel

a long rehearsed pitch or story, someone's whole routine

A long rehearsed pitch or story, delivered the same way every time it comes out. A salesman has a shpiel, and so does your uncle explaining why he's right about the stock market. You can usually tell when one starts because the speaker's posture changes.
