Netanyahu Reportedly Pushed for Iran Strikes
Before Israel and America vote, per Channel 12. His office says no.
Netanyahu reportedly asked Trump to restart the Iran war before two elections. Israel's Channel 12 reported Tuesday that Netanyahu pushed for strikes before Israel votes October 27 and Americans vote November 3. Trump reportedly said "go ahead and prepare" and committed to nothing. His office denied it. IDF chief Eyal Zamir reportedly warned that fighting could postpone Israel's election. 1
Three alleged plots against AIPAC targets, each reported by someone close to the suspect. In the newest, a friend turned in Benny Caldera Jr. of Texas in late September; per the complaint, he said AIPAC supporters "have to be exterminated." Police found a revolver with the serial number filed off. 2
A Jewish museum wants into the Smithsonian. A congressional commission sworn in Tuesday has two years to study whether Philadelphia's Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History should join. Vice chair Dara Horn says schools mostly teach Jews through the Holocaust. This summer the White House accused the Smithsonian of "radical ideology." 3
A Louise Nevelson Holocaust memorial needs a new address. Temple Beth-El in Great Neck, New York, has shrunk from about 1,500 member families to about 400. Selling the building to an Orthodox yeshiva leaves "The White Flame of the Six Million," Nevelson's 50-foot bimah sculpture commissioned in 1970, without a sanctuary. Of the carved shapes, Andy Aaron, a member for 50 years, says "the smaller ones at the bottom are children." The Torah scrolls came out of its ark after Neilah on Yom Kippur, and the sculpture will be taken apart and stored. Curators from the Jewish Museum in New York and the North Carolina Museum of Art are both interested. A six-foot model sold at Sotheby's for $327,600 in 2022, so nobody is listing this one on Facebook Marketplace. 4
