UK counterterror police disrupt a plot to target Manchester's Jewish community. Officers arrested two men in their 30s in central Manchester on Sunday, the result of what police described as a long-running investigation. The Community Security Trust called it "utterly chilling," coming near the anniversary of last year's Heaton Park Synagogue attack. 1
The gunman who fired on police outside a Canadian synagogue has died of his wounds. Sean Ward, 29, traded gunfire with officers guarding the Sons of Jacob congregation in Belleville, Ontario, during Yom Kippur services Sunday night, wounding Constable Jeff Smith. Ward died Monday night. A spokesperson said "common sense" points to the synagogue as his target. 2
Netanyahu says he'll confront Mamdani by name at the UN this week. New York's mayor renewed his call for Netanyahu's arrest under the ICC warrant, saying it should be "honored." A Hallmark Hanukkah movie is leaning into "inside baseball" this year. Eight Nights for Love stars Hunter King and Dan Jeannotte as lifelong best friends who realize a magical menorah might be nudging them toward more than friendship. It's co-written by Tamar Laddy, who also wrote 2023's Round and Round and has said she wanted a Hanukkah movie made for Jewish viewers first, not one built to mirror Christmas. It premieres November 29 on Hallmark, with streaming on Hallmark+ the next day. Two months out, and the marketing is already doing more Jewish homework than most studios manage in December. 4
